The colorimetric method involves a chemical reaction that produces a color change proportional to the concentration of hydrazine present in the sample. This reaction can be quantified using the item 1.08018 color-matching vessel for hydrazine testing. The test can be used in

Method

In acidic solution hydrazine reacts with 4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde to form a yellow compound. The hydrazine concentration is measured semiquantitatively by visual comparison of the color of the measurement solution with the color zones of a color-matching vessel.
